Privacy Policy — Tab Safety Net
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Tab Safety Net is a browser extension that saves snapshots of your open windows, tabs and tab groups so you can restore them later. This page explains exactly what it handles.
What the extension stores
- The addresses (URLs) and titles of the tabs open in your normal browser windows, whether tabs are pinned, and the title, color and collapsed state of your tab groups.
- Your settings for the extension.
This information is stored only on your own computer, in the browser's extension storage, for one purpose: letting you restore your tabs.
What the extension does not do
- It does not send any data to the developer or to anyone else. It has no permission to access the websites you visit, and its security policy blocks all network requests.
- It does not read the content of web pages, passwords, cookies or anything you type into forms.
- It never saves incognito (private) windows.
- It does not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and it does not sell or share data.
Backup files
A backup file is created only when you click Export, and it is saved wherever you choose. It contains the same tab information described above. You are in control of where it goes.
Deleting your data
You can delete any snapshot from the extension's popup. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored.
Permissions
- tabs and tabGroups: to read and restore your tabs and tab groups, and to put idle tabs to sleep if you enable it.
- storage and unlimitedStorage: to keep snapshots on your computer, including large sessions.
- alarms: to take snapshots on a schedule.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. A version that sends data off your computer would require your consent first.
